ALPR - Automatic License Plate Recognition - Know On-Premise Status
PRINT PAGE - GET PDF
Purpose:
Security and management will know who is or was on-premise at all times. Gates conveniently open when a known car drives up (based on license plate), reducing delays and interactions with Gatehouse staff, and tracking all departures. Some car windshields' tinting interferes with RFID signals, diminishing the effectiveness of the vehicle RFID readers. Gate security officers can be alerted when a vehicle arrives having a license plate on a "watch list".
Typical Users:
Front Gate officers, security management
Method of Use:
ALPR system automatically reads license plates when they come into view. GateWatch™ incorporates the license plate data into the gate clearance process. Community managers can use the SkyWatch™ Gate module to ascertain who is or was on-property at any moment (provided all lanes in & out are ALPR-covered).
Example of Use (ENTRANCE):
  1. Vehicle drives in front of an inbound lane’s license-plate camera.
  2. An image of its license plate is automatically sent to the BlackSky decoding engine in Gatehouse.
  3. Within a quarter-second the license plate information is recorded, processed, and the vehicle is identified.
  4. The plate details are checked against databases to see whether the visitor is approved for entry to the community. Can be checked against law enforcement databases as well.
  5. Automated alerts can be sent via text or email for "specified" or "hot" vehicles if desired (inbound and/or outbound). SkyWatch™ CMS users can specify which vehicles or persons to track.
  6. Gates can be triggered to open automatically if vehicle belongs to a valid visitor or homeowner.
  7. Vehicle is placed in "On-Premise" list (upon inbound loop event). Officers will have an accurate list of which vehicles are/were on-property in real-time and for historical forensic reports.
Example of Use (EXIT):
  1. Vehicle drives in front of an outbound lane’s license-plate camera.
  2. An image of its license plate is automatically sent to the BlackSky decoding engine in Gatehouse.
  3. Within a quarter-second the plate information is verified against the "On-Premise" list.
  4. Automated alerts can be sent via text or email for "specified" or "hot" vehicles if desired (inbound and/or outbound).
  5. Gates can be triggered to open automatically once license plate info is received.
  6. Once the vehicle has exited and the gate closes, the vehicle is removed from "On-Premise" list (upon outbound loop event).

Standard Features:

  • License plate information recorded for each gate event.
  • Gate-opening restrictions can be implemented if owner or vehicle is on “Restricted to Property” list or is violating a “Valid Hours-of-Operation” restriction. Homeowners could also designate their vehicles as “Restricted” while they are gone for extended periods of time. Great for long-term vacationers, or HOA-owned vehicles not licensed for street-use.
  • Community or Security managers can be alerted upon arrival of "hot" cars.
  • Uses advanced specialized ALPR camera technology to achieve excellent recognition accuracy and 24/7/365 all-weather outdoor usage.
  • Camera has 12-meter operating range, black/white, outdoor rating, high-power on-board infrared illuminator and synchronizer unit, motorized zoom & iris for controlled adjustment.

Advanced Optional Features:

  • Can link to law enforcement databases to notify Security officers if vehicle is on a "watch list". Examples include sexual predators, stolen vehicles, and fugitive individuals. May include 3rd-party $ fees.
  • ViewForce™ ALPR smartphone app for Android phones – Excellent for neighborhood watch members, security guards and patrol personnel. Take pictures of vehicle license plates and add comments, and the app automatically decodes the license plates and places them in the GateWatch™ system database.
